The main difference between celiac colitis and ulcerative colitis is the difference in the cause of the disease.
The cause of celiac colitis is primarily an immune system disorder resulting in more variable symptoms, which generally consist of abdominal pain, diarrhea, and pus and blood stools. Patients with celiac colitis can generally be treated with diet, removal of triggers, medication and immunotherapy. Celiac colitis has milder symptoms and a better prognosis compared to ulcerative colitis.
The cause of ulcerative colitis has not yet been clarified, and it is generally believed that it is caused by the interaction of multiple factors. The symptoms are more severe, the damage is deeper, and patients will experience abdominal pain, mucopurulent and bloody stools, and the complications are more serious, such as toxic megacolon, intestinal perforation, hemorrhage, and so on.
