What happens when you’re born without a uterus?

Born without a uterus often refers to congenital absence of a uterus, caused by abnormal development of the paramesonephric ducts, often combined with absence of a vagina. If the middle and caudal segments of the two paramesonephric ducts are interfered with by unknown factors during fetal development and fusion to form the uterus, the uterine segments formed by the two paramesonephric ducts fail to fuse or deteriorate, and congenital absence of a uterus eventually occurs. The intervening factors are not known. Congenital absence of uterus is often combined with absence of vagina, and the ovaries may be normal. It is often asymptomatic before puberty and is most often detected on examination by a doctor due to the absence of menstruation after puberty. It is advisable to seek medical advice and consultation if needed or if you feel unwell.
