Red nevi are confined red changes that are either above the skin surface or level with the skin surface, and can be bright red, light red or purplish red. Red nevi are generally caused by both congenital and acquired genetic factors that lead to capillary lesions or abnormal proliferation of endothelial cells in the blood vessels of the skin.
