The treatment of tuberculosis first depends on whether the tuberculosis belongs to the sensitive Mycobacterium tuberculosis or the drug-resistant tuberculosis. The treatment of tuberculosis in general is divided into primary tuberculosis and re-treatment tuberculosis. The course of treatment for primary tuberculosis is usually 6 months, which can be extended to 9 months or even longer depending on the severity of the disease and the location of the lesion, as appropriate. The regimen for relapsed tuberculosis is different from that for primary tuberculosis, and the course of treatment is usually 9 months. Drug-resistant tuberculosis means that Mycobacterium tuberculosis has developed resistance to tuberculosis drugs. Drug-resistant tuberculosis can be classified as mono-, multi-drug-resistant, multi-drug-resistant, or pan-drug-resistant tuberculosis. The most serious drug-resistant TB is multidrug-resistant TB and pan-drug-resistant TB, which can take up to 24 months or even 36 months to treat. Multidrug-resistant tuberculosis is a national priority and difficult to treat disease, which generally has a long course of treatment, high costs and side effects of treatment. To confirm the diagnosis of drug-resistant TB, the possibility of drug-resistant TB must be considered only after the bacterial culture test of sputum is confirmed to be drug-resistant.
