What’s going on with macular lesions?

The etiology of most macular degeneration is still unclear, and it is mostly considered to be related to other factors such as heredity, age, inflammation and inner eye surgery. 1. Heredity: If the patient has a family history of macular degeneration, the probability of developing the disease will be relatively higher. 2. Age: Generally, the older the patient is, the greater the risk of macular degeneration, such as age-related macular degeneration, which is more common in people over 50 years old. 3. Inflammation: macular degeneration may also be induced by inflammation of the eye such as uveitis and retinal vasculitis. 4. Internal eye surgery: macular degeneration may occur in some patients after glaucoma, cataract or retinal detachment surgery. 5. Others: If patients have bad habits such as smoking, alcoholism, or retinal vascular disease, high myopia, nutritional deficiency, ocular trauma, hemorrhagic retinopathy, etc., they will also increase the risk of macular degeneration. Patients are advised to identify the cause of macular degeneration in a timely manner when it occurs, and to actively treat the condition under the guidance of a doctor according to the cause.
