Liver cysts and liver nodules can be distinguished from each other by their nature, means of examination and treatment. 1. Nature, liver cysts are usually cystic masses with fluid inside, mostly due to abnormal development of intrahepatic bile ducts and lymphatic ducts, infection with parasites, and are mostly benign; while liver nodules are solid space-occupying lesions, which may be malignant or benign in nature. 2. Means of examination, liver cysts can usually be diagnosed by ultrasound. Hepatic nodules, on the other hand, cannot be determined by ultrasound, and need to be biopsied to determine whether they are benign or malignant. 3. In terms of treatment, if a simple liver cyst is within 5cm and the symptoms are not too obvious, it can be observed and followed up regularly. If it exceeds this range and the symptoms are prominent, then it should be operated on an elective basis. If the liver nodule is malignant, it should be detected and operated early. If the patient has uncomfortable symptoms, please seek medical treatment promptly.
