A woman’s bouts of hot sweating may be a sign of liver and kidney yin deficiency (insufficient yin fluid in the liver and kidneys) during menopause.
According to traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), a woman’s bout of hot sweating may be a manifestation of yin deficiency of the liver and kidneys, which is called hot flashes (a bout of fever), spontaneous sweating (involuntary sweating during the daytime, aggravated by sweating with a little movement), and night sweating (sweating abnormally after going to sleep, but sweating stops after waking up).
Chinese medicine believes that the kidney has the role of sealing, with age, women’s liver, kidney essence and blood will gradually deficit, yin and yang imbalance, yin deficiency and hyper yang, there will be a bout of heat, sweating, this is the kidney is not sealing, yin does not control yang, yang qi floating over the performance.
For women with bouts of heat and sweating, they can take Chinese medicines such as Liu Wei Di Huang Wan (六味地黄丸) and Zhi Bai Di Huang Wan (知柏地黄丸) to nourish yin and clear away heat (nourish yin essence and clear away heat), harmonize yin and yang and alleviate the symptoms. The adverse effects and contraindications of the above proprietary Chinese medicines are not yet clear.
If a woman has frequent bouts of heat and sweating, it is recommended that she should seek medical advice in a timely manner and ask a professional Chinese medicine practitioner to prescribe medication for treatment after diagnosis and treatment, rather than taking medication without authorization.
