Can my child be infected with Chlamydia trachomatis infection during pregnancy?

The possibility of intrauterine infection may exist following Chlamydia trachomatis infection in the mother during pregnancy. The child’s route of infection is mainly through the contaminated birth canal and the infected newborn presents mainly with neonatal pneumonia and conjunctival keratitis. Therefore, newborns with possible infection need to be given the necessary treatment as early as possible after birth.
