Etiology of peritonitis

The etiology of peritonitis is divided into primary and secondary. Secondary peritonitis is the most common. According to the extent of the inflammation, it can be divided into limited as well as diffuse peritonitis. The primary peritonitis: 1, primary peritonitis: clinically rare, refers to peritonitis caused by the absence of a primary lesion in the abdominal cavity, the pathogenic bacteria are infecting the peritoneal cavity through blood circulation, lymphatic route or female genital system, etc. 2, secondary peritonitis: is the most common clinical peritonitis, secondary to perforation of organs in the abdominal cavity, rupture of organs, inflammation and surgical contamination. The main causes are perforated appendicitis, acute perforation of gastric and duodenal ulcers, acute cholecystitis permeable infection or perforation, typhoid intestinal perforation and acute pancreatitis, purulent inflammation of female genital organs or postpartum infection containing bacterial exudate into the peritoneal cavity causing peritonitis.
