Confirmation of pregnancy requires a urine or blood human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) level and an ultrasound. HCG is a specific substance secreted by the trophoblast cells of an embryo pregnancy, so pregnancy can be confirmed by testing the level of HCG in the urine or blood. A urine test showing two bars or a blood HCG level higher than normal indicates pregnancy. However, the location of the gestational sac and the development of the embryo require further testing. The location of the gestational sac requires an ultrasound to determine whether the pregnancy is intrauterine or ectopic. The development of the embryo needs to check the rise of HCG, if HCG rises slowly or falls, it indicates that the embryo is not well developed and there is a risk of embryonic arrest and miscarriage, if HCG doubles well, it indicates that the embryo is well developed.
