Do babies breathe faster than adults?

In healthy conditions, it is normal and physiologic for infants to have a faster respiratory rate than adults. This is because as children get younger, their respiratory rate becomes faster. For example, if they belong to a newborn, the respiratory rate can reach about 40 breaths/minute. And if at the age of 1 week, the respiratory rate averages around 30 breaths/minute. In the case of adults, the respiratory rate is around 20 breaths/minute. So the younger the age, the faster the respiratory rate accordingly, this is due to the characteristics of the age, does not belong to the pathological state. Therefore, if you find that the respiratory rate of infants is faster than that of adults, parents should not consider it to be a pathological phenomenon.
