The only way to bring a patient to consciousness more quickly is to get them to a doctor as soon as possible, who will assess their severity and treat them accordingly. Some patients with traumatic asphyxia may experience transient coma and may awaken on their own if it is related to minor intracerebral spot haemorrhage and cerebral oedema. If the problem is caused by an intracranial haematoma, it may even require craniotomy in severe cases.
