Ocular stasis is not a single condition, it can be caused by many ophthalmic and systemic conditions such as hypertension which can lead to sclerosis of the small arteries in the fundus and diabetes which can lead to diabetic retinopathy leading to vitreous haemorrhage and choroidal haemorrhage. In addition, direct trauma to the eyelid, orbital fractures and skull base fractures can also lead to bleeding from the eyelid.
