What’s bad about cervical acupuncture

Compared with other surgical methods, the side effects of acupuncture for cervical spondylosis are already relatively small, but there are still some bad effects, such as skin infection or improper operation can bring serious consequences.
1. Skin infection: Inadequate sterilization of the skin or improper treatment after acupuncture can lead to local skin infection. Acupuncture will cause some slight damage to the local skin, which will bring pain to the patient, so we should pay attention to keep the skin clean and dry after acupuncture to avoid infection.
2. Improper operation: for the cervical spine area rich in blood vessels and nerves, improper operation may damage the blood vessels and nerves, resulting in local bleeding or formation of hematoma, or even cause dysfunction.
For example, the dumb door point is commonly used in the neck, it is located in the medulla oblongata, if the depth of acupuncture is too deep, it may damage the medulla oblongata causing life-threatening injuries, and Fengfu and Fengchi points and the occipital foramen magnum are relatively close to the occipital foramen magnum, if improperly punctured occipital foramen magnum is also prone to cause life-threatening injuries.
Patients in the acupuncture treatment of cervical spondylosis should go to the regular hospital for treatment, do not blindly operate on their own, so as not to cause adverse consequences.
