In the formula, Artemisia capillaris is bitter and cold, clearing spleen, stomach, liver and gallbladder damp-heat (damp-heat evil Qi is deposited in liver and gallbladder); Gardenia subdues fire and drains heat, clearing triple-heat damp-heat; Rhubarb facilitates the passage of stool, diarrhea, heat and expel blood stasis. The combination of each drug in the formula can achieve the effect that the two stools are liberalized and the jaundice is gradually eliminated.
