Do cancer patients have to have PET-CT?

PET-CT is not necessarily necessary for cancer patients and needs to be selected according to specific conditions.
PET-CT is a clinical whole-body imaging, which can make early diagnosis and differential diagnosis of tumor, identify whether the tumor has recurrence or not, stage and re-stage the tumor, search for primary and metastatic foci of the tumor, guide and determine the treatment plan of the tumor, and evaluate the efficacy of the treatment.PET-CT can accurately evaluate the efficacy of the treatment, adjust the treatment plan in time, and avoid ineffective treatment.
After surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy and other kinds of treatment for cancer patients, PET-CT examination can determine whether there is any change in the tumor, whether the activity of cancer cells is reduced, whether there is still any proliferation in other parts of the body, and can judge the effect of the previous treatment.
However, PET-CT is not necessary for every cancer patient, and needs to be chosen according to the patient’s condition and his/her own conditions. Cancer patients are recommended to go to regular hospitals and choose the examination program according to the guidance of specialists.
