Locally advanced thyroid cancer means that the thyroid tumor has locally metastasized and invaded, and the tumor obviously invades the surrounding important structures. Thyroid cancer is a malignant tumor originating from the epithelial cells of the thyroid gland, which may manifest as symptoms of neck mass compression as well as abnormal thyroid function. Based on the size of the thyroid tumor (T), regional lymph node metastasis (N), and distant metastasis (M), the tumor can be staged in TNM. Thyroid TNM staging can be further roughly divided into early, intermediate and advanced stages, while locally advanced stage is between intermediate and advanced stages. It mainly refers to the tumor obviously invades the laryngeal recurrent nerve, trachea, esophagus, large blood vessels in the neck and other important tissues and structures, and distant metastasis of the tumor has not yet occurred. Generally, the scope of surgery is larger and the prognosis is relatively poor. When thyroid cancer is detected, it is recommended to seek medical treatment in time and standardize the treatment under the guidance of professional doctors to avoid delaying the condition.
