Taking six months of Gui Fu Di Huang Wan works by warming and tonifying kidney yang (warming and replenishing kidney yang), treating unfavorable or rebellious urination, wheezing, coughing and phlegm-drinking (pathological products of impaired water-liquid metabolism), and so on. Gui Fu Di Huang Wan is composed of Radix Rehmanniae Praeparata, Radix Cinnamomum Cassiae, Radix Polygoni Multiflori (Prepared), Rhizoma Zedoariae, Cornu Cervi Pantotrichum (Prepared), and so on, and works to warm and replenish kidney yang. In the formula, Radix Rehmanniae Praeparata benefits the essence and fills the marrow, Radix Cinnamomum Cassiae and Radix et Rhizoma Polygoni Multiflori (Preparation) tonify fire and help Yang (replenish Yang Qi in the body), Rhizoma Zedoariae diaphragm induces diuresis and eliminates edema (clear urine and eliminate oedema), Cornu Cervi Pantotrichum (Preparation) astringes and fixes astringency, and is used in the treatment of adverse or excessive urination due to the evidence of insufficiency of Kidney-Yang, impotent coldness of the waist and knees and phlegmatic and cough. Its adverse reactions are not clear. Contraindication is avoided in pregnant women. Precautions are to avoid indigestible food; take 2 weeks without relief of symptoms should go to the hospital; cold and fever patients should not take. Gui Fu Di Huang Wan, if necessary, should be taken under the guidance of a traditional Chinese medicine practitioner, do not prolong the medication time, so as not to cause adverse consequences.
