Omicron Infection Symptoms

Symptoms of Omicron infection include low-grade fever, malaise, and dry cough. Symptoms manifest differently in mild and severe patients. Omicron belongs to a mutated strain of Neocoronavirus with many mutations in the spiking protein. The onset of the disease may cause mild symptoms, including low-grade fever, malaise, dry cough, muscle aches and pains, etc. Some patients may have nasal congestion, runny nose, sore throat, decreased or loss of smell and taste, conjunctivitis, myalgia, and diarrhea as the main manifestations. Most patients infected with Omicron are predominantly mildly symptomatic, but for older patients or those who have not been immunized with the New Crown vaccine, there is a risk of more severe symptoms, such as difficulty breathing, once infected. Patients with omicron need to undergo additional lung CT scanning, and some patients with severe, critically ill disease may be found to have worsening symptoms of pneumonia with involvement of both lungs and multiple lobes, as well as diffuse interstitial lesions. It is recommended that patients infected with omikron should not take the prevention, control and treatment lightly, and should go to the professional department for timely treatment under the premise of good personal protection.
