Do you need chemotherapy in the early stages of ovarian cancer?

The need for chemotherapy in the early stages of ovarian cancer depends on the risk factors of the tumor. Chemotherapy is recommended in the high-risk group of ovarian cancer, while chemotherapy is not required in the low-risk group. For early ovarian cancer in the low-risk group, if the histological grade is 1 or 2, and the peritoneum is intact, there is no tumor on the surface of the mass, the cytology of the abdominal cavity is negative, there is no ascites and the tumor is confined to the ovary, this kind of early ovarian cancer can be treated by simple surgery, and the 5-year survival rate after surgery can be more than 90%, so there is no need for chemotherapy. However, if the histologic grade is 3, or clear cell carcinoma of stage Ia or Ib, or ovarian cancer of stage Ic and completely resected stage II, it is recommended to receive more than 3 cycles of carboplatin combined with paclitaxel for chemotherapy. Regular annual physical examination is recommended for early screening of cancer. Regular treatment of ovarian cancer according to specific conditions can effectively prolong the survival time of ovarian cancer and improve the quality of survival.
