Glutamyl transpeptidase 66 U/L is a mild elevation and may be caused by hepatobiliary and pancreatic diseases.
Glutamyl transpeptidase mainly originates from the hepatobiliary system, and is mainly detected clinically by the γ-glutamyl-3-carboxy-p-nitroaniline method (37°C). Normal values for glutamyl transpeptidase are 11-50 U/L in men and 7-32 U/L in women; therefore, in both men and women, glutamyl transpeptidase 66 U/L is classified as mildly elevated.
Elevated glutamyl transpeptidase is often caused by biliary obstructive diseases such as primary biliary cirrhosis, as well as viral hepatitis, alcoholic hepatitis, drug-induced hepatitis, fatty liver, pancreatitis and other diseases.
Patients should go to the hospital to find out the cause and standardize the treatment under the doctor’s guidance so as not to delay the condition.
