Is sciatica serious?

Sciatic nerve pain is usually more serious. Most causes of sciatic nerve pain are nerve entrapment and nerve infection, which can manifest as symptoms of radiating pain in the lower extremities, as well as soreness, dull ache, stiffness, and limitation of movement in the lower back. When coughing, sneezing, or straining to defecate increases the abdominal pressure, the pain symptoms will be significantly aggravated, and the patient’s lower limb movement and back movement will also be severely affected. If left untreated, the sciatic nerve will become degenerated or even necrotic due to inflammation or ischemia, severely damaging the conduction function of the sciatic nerve. Therefore, sciatic nerve pain must be diagnosed and treated at an early stage to relieve the compression and inflammatory reaction as soon as possible in order to resume normal life and work.
