Causes and treatment of spontaneous sweating

The causes of spontaneous sweating (involuntary sweating during the day, aggravated by the slightest movement) are physiologic and pathologic. Pathological sweating can be treated with medication. 1. Physiological causes: it may be caused by too high indoor temperature, too thick clothing, exercise, etc. Generally, no special treatment is needed. 2. Pathologic causes and treatment: (1) Self-sweating due to Qi deficiency: Sweat is self-excreting due to Qi deficiency which cannot fix (consolidate) sweat, and can be treated with Astragalus granules. Diabetic patients are forbidden to take Astragalus granules. (2) Cardiovascular insufficiency (insufficient blood in the heart): If excessive worry and contemplation damage the heart and spleen, cardiovascular insufficiency will further lead to sweat leakage, resulting in spontaneous sweating, palpitations (rapid heartbeat, often accompanied by panic), hypersomnia, and shortness of breath and fatigue, which need to be treated with Gui Spleen Tang. (3) Evil-heat and stagnant vapor: excessive eating of oil, sweet, thick and greasy food will lead to internalization of dampness-heat and stagnant vapor, which will lead to excretion of sweat, manifesting as sticky sweat, bitter taste in mouth, yellowish and greasy tongue coating, and number of strings on the pulse, etc., which can be treated with Longguan Diarrhea and Liver Soup. If there is any discomfort, it is recommended to consult a doctor in time. If you need medication, you should go through a doctor’s diagnosis and follow the doctor’s instructions for standardized treatment.
