Lumbar lordosis mainly refers to the appearance of a reverse curvature of the normal forward curvature of the lumbar region, that is, the appearance of a backward curvature.
The causes of lumbar lordosis mainly include physiologic causes and pathologic causes. Physiologic causes are mainly due to long-term poor lumbar posture, resulting in the lumbar spine forward protruding curvature gradually becoming smaller until retrograde. It is also possible that the lumbar spine has a protective recoil due to the decline in strength of the lumbar back muscles as a result of aging.
Pathological factors are mainly seen in ankylosing spondylitis or rheumatoid arthritis, resulting in the destruction of bone quality, which gradually leads to the destruction of the physiological curvature of the lumbar spine, and even to the phenomenon of retrograde arch. There is also the possibility of lumbar vertebral fracture due to trauma, and after recovery, the normal curvature cannot be restored, and lumbar vertebral retroversion may also occur.
There may also be other causes of lumbar spine retroversion, such as tumors, tuberculosis, etc. It is recommended to go to the hospital in time, improve the examination to clarify the cause of the disease, and then give targeted treatment or therapy under the guidance of the doctor.
