Where’s the cystic duct?

The cystic duct is the duct that connects the gallbladder to the common bile duct and is located in the right upper abdomen. The cystic duct is a special structure of the biliary system that connects the gallbladder to the common bile duct, and is usually about 2.5-4 cm long with a diameter of 0.2-0.3 cm. Abnormalities of the cystic duct often lead to cystic duct stenosis syndrome, which is a chronic pathologic change of the gallbladder due to poor flow of bile and persistent increase in the basal pressure in the cystic duct, which can result in intermittent, non-strumental right upper abdominal pain. It is recommended that people with a history of gallbladder disease, family history, and alcohol consumption should undergo an annual abdominal ultrasound examination and improve the monitoring of relevant liver and kidney functions, etc. They should pay attention to a light diet, maintain a balanced nutrition, and avoid alcohol consumption and smoking.
