Definition and causes of proteinuria

Proteinuria is defined as a condition in which the value of albumin in the urine is greater than 150mg within 24 hours, regardless of the reason for reaching this standard. Proteinuria can be caused by the following reasons, first, urinary tract infection or stones combined with tumors and other related conditions. Secondly, various types of nephritis, such as chronic nephritis, cryptogenic nephritis, acute nephritis or acute glomerulonephritis, and nephrotic syndrome can also occur with high proteinuria levels. Treatment should be determined according to the specific cause of the disease. If it is caused by infection, tuberculosis or tumor, anti-infection, stone removal or even surgical removal of the tumor can achieve a cure. For various types of nephritis with proteinuria, glucocorticoids and immunosuppressants are mainly used.
