The pain of cracked large teeth can be restored by repairing the tooth, filling, making crown restoration, joint crown restoration, and so on.
1. Repairing the tooth: If the molar tooth has a hidden crack on the jaw surface, and soreness occurs when it is stimulated by heat or cold, the cavity can be temporarily closed by applying zinc oxide with clove oil after grinding away the crack, and then repaired with glass ionomer cementum after the pain is relieved in 1~2 weeks.
2. Filling: If the crack is deep into the dentin layer, calcium hydroxide can be placed at the bottom of the cavity and then permanently filled.
3. Crown restoration: when the crack reaches the pulp cavity and severe pain occurs, the pulp can be abraded along the crack under local anesthesia, infected tissues can be removed, 3% hydrogen peroxide solution should be used to rinse, and after completing the root canal treatment, the tooth can be prepared and metal or all-ceramic crowns can be fabricated, so as to avoid the complete cracking of the tooth tissues.
4. Joint crown restoration: X-ray shows that the crack leads to the separation of the tooth root, and it is necessary to extract the short root, retain the robust root, and fabricate the joint crown restoration together with the neighboring teeth.
When a large cracked tooth shows symptoms of pain, it is recommended to reduce oral exercises and not to eat cold, greasy and irritating foods.
