Retrograde ejaculation is an ejaculation in which there is only the sensation of ejaculation but no semen coming out of the urethra. The semen component is usually found in the urine due to the retrograde flow of semen into the bladder. Retrograde ejaculation can be caused by post-prostate surgery damage, narrowing of the posterior urethra or the use of certain medications. Retrograde ejaculation can cause male infertility as well as psychological effects, so aggressive treatment is recommended when retrograde ejaculation occurs, even at the age of 52. Treatment for retrograde ejaculation varies for different causes. If retrograde ejaculation is caused by congenital urethral stenosis, it can be treated by urethral dilatation surgery, and if it is caused by a loose bladder neck, bladder neck reconstruction is feasible.
