Epiglottis cysts are generally not self-healing. Epiglottis cysts are mostly caused by long-term inflammation, mechanical stimulation, trauma, etc. They may also be caused by congenital developmental abnormality, and often grow in the epiglottis under the mucous membrane of the epiglottis. Epiglottis cysts can not be cured on their own, and conservative treatments are mostly ineffective, and can be treated by surgery if the cysts are large. If the cyst is small, it can be left untreated for the time being and needs to be closely observed. If there is any suspicion of secondary infection, throat discomfort or foreign body sensation, surgical resection is needed, such as laser or plasma knife-assisted surgery, etc. The cyst should be removed after a short period of time. Antibiotics need to be given for a short period of time after epiglottis cyst surgery to avoid secondary infection. Commonly used drugs, such as cephalosporin antibiotics and roxithromycin, should be consulted with a physician and used under his/her guidance. If you have any symptoms of discomfort, you should go to the hospital in time, under the guidance of the physician, to identify the cause and then give targeted treatment.
