Sperm can survive in a woman’s body for up to 72 hours. The survival time of sperm in a woman’s body is also related to the quality and vigor of the sperm and the state of health of the female reproductive system.
After entering the vagina, semen will liquefy first. Sperm leaves the semen and passes through the cervix into the uterine cavity, where it combines with an egg in the juxtaposition of the fallopian tube to form a fertilized egg. Sperm enters the vagina after sex and usually enters the fallopian tube in about 7 hours. Sperm will wait for the egg in the potbelly of the fallopian tube, where it will survive for 1-3 days.
Sperm will survive for a shorter period of time if the woman has a reproductive tract disorder or if the man’s sperm is of poor quality or vigor.
