Hovenia Jiaozhu Pill is a traditional Chinese medicine formula. It is mainly composed of Citrus aurantium and Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae and can be used to treat symptoms such as pain in the stomach and epigastric region caused by spleen deficiency and qi stagnation, distension and discomfort, noisy acid swallowing (feeling of discomfort in the stomach and swallowing after acid floods on the stomach), and constipation of the bowels. Atractylodes macrocephala can benefit qi and strengthen the spleen (regulating the qi of the spleen and stomach) to dispel dampness, and Citrus aurantium can move qi to eliminate flatulence and fullness, both of which work together to strengthen the spleen and move qi to eliminate flatulence. The adverse effects and contraindications of the above drugs are not clear; patients are advised to take a light diet during the medication period, and to stop the medication immediately if any discomfort occurs.
