What’s an atypical carcinoid?

Atypical carcinoid tumor is a pathological type of neurosecretory tumor. Atypical carcinoid tumor is a kind of neurosecretory carcinoma of the lung, which belongs to the middle differentiation, with small size of cancer cells and internal arrangement of nests, cords and trabeculae, and with medium malignancy, which is easy to metastasize and spread. Atypical carcinoid tumors will have clinical symptoms similar to those of lung cancer, such as chest tightness, cough, etc. A small number of patients are accompanied by carcinoid syndrome, such as asthma and skin flushing. The treatment of atypical carcinoid tumor is mainly surgical resection, after which radiotherapy and chemotherapy can be carried out.
