In fact, each surgical modality has its advantages and disadvantages, and we cannot magnify its advantages indefinitely, nor can we hide its disadvantages. The advantages of laparoscopy: small trauma to the abdominal wall and fast recovery after surgery. It can satisfy the appearance requirements of the lady who loves beauty, and in fact it was invented in this context. It still has advantages for doing simple destructive surgeries such as: ectopic pregnancy, hydrocele, infertility, etc. Disadvantages: it relies on TV screen instructions, two-dimensional display, and requires a long time of training to do some simple movements. Of course someone who has done laparoscopy all their life can be very skilled. But an open surgeon with the same amount of training time can do almost any surgery. So it’s minimally invasive on the outside and massively invasive in the abdomen. It is not as intact as open to reconstruct function, such as stripping fibroids, and women with fertility needs are better off not choosing laparoscopic stripping, which destroys the uterus too much. Laparoscopy is also not recommended for patients with bilateral ovarian cysts. I have encountered several women in their 30s who have experienced ovarian failure and amenorrhea as a result of laparoscopic debridement of bilateral cysts. This is because laparoscopic hemostasis depends on electrical firing, which will kill the ovaries if the fire is too high and will not stop the bleeding if the fire is too low. Of course some people suture to stop the bleeding, but careless sutures lacerate the ovarian door, seemingly stopping the bleeding, but in fact the ovaries are dead. High cost, high income for hospitals and doctors, currently popular with doctors. Advantages of open abdomen: three-dimensional operation, allowing all the fine movements to be done in the hand. Disadvantages: trauma to the abdominal wall. So, for each disease, it has different treatment methods to choose from.
