What medication is useful for enlarged nasal turbinates

Nasal turbinate hypertrophy is usually caused by inflammatory stimulation, and needs to be treated with nasal decongestants, antihistamines, and glucocorticoid drugs.

Nasal turbinate hypertrophy refers to the nasal mucosa long-term inflammatory stimulation caused by turbinate mucosal edema and submucosal tissue proliferation, resulting in nasal obstruction and the corresponding symptoms. The main symptoms include nasal congestion, runny nose, cough and phlegm, headache and so on.

Nasal turbinate hypertrophy requires the use of nasal decongestants to alleviate the symptoms of nasal congestion, such as 0.05% hydroxymetazoline nasal drops, etc., which generally should not be used for more than 7 days; antihistamines, which are mainly used for allergic rhinitis, such as cetirizine, loratadine, etc.; and glucocorticosteroids, which are used for anti-inflammatory and decongestive treatments for the nasal mucosa, such as mometasone furoate nasal spray and fluticasone propionate nasal spray. Drugs must be applied under the guidance of a doctor.

If the effect of standardized conservative treatment is not good, surgical treatment can be performed, usually low temperature plasma radiofrequency ablation.

Nasal turbinate hypertrophy is recommended to hospitals, clarify the condition, and comply with medical treatment.
