Can you drink alcohol with paracetamol?

Paracetamol is generically known as acetaminophen and patients are not allowed to consume alcohol while taking the medication. Acetaminophen can be used clinically mainly for fever caused by the common cold and influenza, and can also be used to relieve mild to moderate pain, such as headache, migraine, arthralgia, toothache, neuralgia, menstrual cramps, muscle pain and so on. It is contraindicated for those with severe liver or kidney insufficiency, and those who are allergic to the drug. Patients should not consume alcohol or drinks containing alcohol while taking the drug. Patients suffering from liver disease and viral hepatitis need to be cautious as taking the drug may increase liver toxicity. Patients should also avoid taking other antipyretic and analgesic drugs containing acetaminophen at the same time to avoid overdose. If adverse reactions such as erythema and edema occur after taking the drug, the patient should stop taking the drug immediately and seek medical attention. The use of this drug must follow the doctor’s instructions, do not blindly use their own medicine, in order to avoid causing adverse consequences.
