How does a prostatectomy work?

Prostatectomy is the removal of the enlarged prostate within the prostate capsule. Commonly used are post-pubic route surgical resection and transurethral resection of the prostate. 1. Surgical resection of the retropubic route: divided into suprapubic transcystic prostatectomy and retropubic extravesical prostatectomy. (1) Suprapubic transcystic prostatectomy: it is a surgery to remove the prostate by incising the bladder through an extraperitoneal incision in the lower abdomen. (2) Retropubic cystectomy: It is a kind of surgery that reveals the peritoneum of the prostate through the retropubic space, makes a transverse incision on the peritoneum, and removes the prostate under direct vision. 2. Transurethral resection of the prostate: including iontophoresis and laser resection, which is a minimally invasive surgical method. It is a surgery that inserts an electrosurgical scope through the urethra and partially removes the hyperplastic tissue of the prostate under direct vision, while at the same time stopping the bleeding. It is recommended that patients whose prostate needs to be removed should go to a regular hospital in time to have a professional doctor choose the appropriate surgical method according to their condition and the patient’s needs. After the operation, follow the doctor’s instructions for recovery, and if any adverse reaction occurs, the patient should have a follow-up consultation in time.
