Functions and uses of the skin of the abdomen and how to consume

With the efficacy of moving qi and relaxing the middle, diuresis and eliminating swelling (facilitating urination and eliminating edema), Dabu Pi can treat dampness obstruction and stagnation of qi (the body’s qi is not flowing smoothly due to obstruction by dampness), distention and stuffiness of the epigastric region (the abdomen feels distended and uncomfortable), bowel movements that are unpleasant to the stomach, oedema and distension, swelling of the legs and feet, and dysuria (unruly urination). It is taken as a decoction of water for internal use. Dabu Pi belongs to the group of qi regulating herbs. It is pungent in taste, slightly warm in nature, and belongs to the spleen, stomach, large intestine and small intestine meridians. It can move qi and broaden the middle, promote diuresis and eliminate swelling, and can treat abdominal distension, diarrhea, edema, foot odor, and urinary incontinence. In general, there are no obvious toxic side effects when used, but there have been reports of allergic reactions, such as itching of the skin, abdominal pain, diarrhea and so on. If an allergic reaction occurs, the drug should be stopped immediately and treated symptomatically. Its contraindications are not clear. If patients have the need to take medication, they should consult a physician at a regular medical institution, and should not take medication on their own.
