What’s with the knee pain?

The causes of knee soreness vary among different age groups.
1. Young people’s knee pain is mostly related to sports, including ligament, meniscus, fat pad injury and tibial tuberosity epiphysitis.
(1) Ligament and meniscus injuries: mostly seen in traumatized people. There will be knee swelling, bruising, etc. Meniscus injury is accompanied by joint swelling or fluid accumulation, popping and ringing, and pressure points in the joint space.
(2) Fat pad injury: It is a sterile inflammation caused by acute injury or chronic strain, which is manifested as knee pain when the fat pads on both sides of the ligament connected with the patella are straightened.
(3) Tibial tuberosity epiphysitis: manifested as pain below the knee, which is more obvious when moving.
2. Knee pain in the elderly is often associated with degenerative knee diseases, including osteoarthritis, chondromalacia patella, synovitis, rheumatoid arthritis and gouty arthritis.
(1) Osteoarthritis: manifested by pain, effusion, deformity and limitation of movement of the knee joint.
(2) Chondromalacia patella: manifested by knee pain, obvious pain when going up and down stairs and half squatting.
(3) Synovitis: manifested by swelling, pain, and limitation of extension of the knee joint.
(4) Rheumatoid arthritis: the common symptoms are wandering pain in both knees, and severe symptoms will appear in the knee joint deformity.
(5) Gouty arthritis: acute arthritis stage knee pain is severe and continuously aggravated, slow arthritis stage gout stone formation in the joint.
In addition to the above causative factors, tumors, overweight and calcium deficiency can also cause knee pain. As the cause of knee pain is not clear, it is recommended to consult a doctor and take targeted treatment under the guidance of the doctor.
