What’s wrong with swollen hands in advanced lung cancer?

Swelling of hands in late stage of lung cancer may be caused by mediastinal lymph node metastasis and neck lymph node metastasis of lung cancer, which cause compression of blood vessels and lymphatic vessels, leading to obstruction of blood return in both upper limbs, thus causing edema. 1. Mediastinal lymph node metastasis: as cancer cells are transferred to the area of mediastinal lymph nodes along with lymphatic fluid, the swelling of lymph nodes compresses blood vessels leading to poor blood circulation and causing the symptom of swollen hands. 2. Cervical lymph node metastasis: As cancer cells have metastasized to lymph nodes in the neck, the lymph nodes in the neck become enlarged, compressing lymphatic vessels and leading to poor return of lymphatic fluids, resulting in the symptom of edema of hands. If the symptoms are not relieved for a long time, one should go to the hospital for examination in time and cooperate with the treatment.
