Why advanced prostate cancer doesn’t need chemotherapy from the start

Endocrine therapy is often preferred for advanced prostate cancer, or endocrine therapy combined with radiotherapy and chemotherapy and other comprehensive treatment options. Early stage prostate cancer can be treated well or even cured by radical surgery or radical radiotherapy. While chemotherapy for advanced prostate cancer is not very effective, palliative treatment or radiotherapy, which is mainly androgen removal treatment, is usually chosen to control the growth of the tumor in order to prolong the patient’s survival. For metastatic prostate cancer, endocrine therapy (surgical debulking or drug debulking combined with anti-androgen) combined with chemotherapy is recommended; and chemotherapy is one of the important treatment options in debulking-resistant prostate cancer. Frequent drugs include paclitaxel, mitoxantrone, adriamycin, epothilone, estradiol nitrogen mustard, cyclophosphamide, norepinephrine amide, cisplatin and fluorouracil. It is recommended to go to a regular hospital to evaluate the condition and follow the doctor’s instructions to cooperate with the treatment, so as not to delay the condition.
