Frostbite leaves a scar, i.e. a scar left behind after the skin has healed from frostbite. Different treatments can be chosen according to the size of the scar, which mainly include laser treatment, cryotherapy and surgery. 1. Laser treatment. For keloid scars mainly characterized by hyperplasia or hyperpigmentation, laser treatment can improve the hyperpigmentation, and at the same time, it can cause thermal damage to the local subcutaneous tissues to stimulate the rearrangement of scar tissues, which can help to improve the appearance of keloid scars. 2. Cryotherapy. For keloid scars mainly characterized by bulging, cryotherapy can cause local skin necrosis, and eventually achieve the purpose of removing keloid scars; however, the effect of cryotherapy on hyperplastic keloid scars is not good, and most of them will have the appearance of depressed keloid scars. 3. Surgery. For larger scars that are not well treated with medication or cryotherapy, surgery can be used directly to remove the scar.
