Rhizoma Chuanxiong is commonly used in clinical practice to activate blood circulation, and is also known as the qi medicine of blood.
It is pungent and warm in nature, and belongs to the liver and gallbladder meridians. It is often used to invigorate blood circulation, expel wind and relieve pain. It is used in the treatment of chest paralysis (chest pain), heart pain, chest and hypochondrium (chest and ribs) stabbing pain, swelling and pain, menstrual disorders, menstrual pain, obstruction of menstruation, obstruction in the abdomen, abdominal pain, headache, rheumatism and paralysis pain.
Rhizoma Ligustici Chuanxiong is pungent, warm, fragrant and dry (aromatic and dry), going but not guarding, and is capable of dispersing and reaching the top of the head in the upward direction; it also enters into the blood division (the deepest stage or location of the disease among the four phases of warm disease, namely Weiqi and Yingblood), and can reach the sea of blood in the downward direction, and has been referred to as the qi medicine in the blood.
The adverse effects of this drug are not clear. This drug should not be used for headache caused by yin deficiency and hyperactivity of yang. This drug should not be used if there is excessive sweating or menorrhagia. Please use this medicine under the guidance of a physician.
