This is a very common disease in ophthalmology. The symptoms are usually seen in the corners of the eyes, mainly in the inner corners of the eyes, and are caused by conjunctival degeneration, which is related to sand irritation, long-term outdoor work, ultraviolet light, etc. The cause of the disease is not completely clear. Conjunctival degeneration is followed by fleshy growths, which may invade the cornea as the disease worsens, leading to corneal astigmatism and vision loss. The most common surgical procedure is pterygium excision combined with autologous corneal limbal stem cell transplantation.
