The Fastest Way to Heal Yourself from an ACL Injury

There is no clear “fastest way to heal” for ACL injuries. Depending on the severity of the injury, brace fixation, medication, physical therapy and surgery can be used.

1. Brace fixation: If the ACL is mildly torn and not completely ruptured, brace fixation can be applied, which needs to make the knee joint straight and keep the knee joint in a functional position, and the fixation range should be around the knee joint. Functional exercises should be carried out in the later stage.

2. Drug therapy: non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, such as etoricoxib, can be used under the guidance of the doctor to reduce inflammation and analgesia.

3. Physical therapy: cold compresses can be applied within 72 hours of the occurrence of acute ACL injury, and hot compresses can be applied after 72 hours to promote blood circulation.

4. Surgery: For ACL rupture and obvious instability of the knee joint, timely surgery is needed, such as arthroscopic ACL reconstruction surgery.

It is suggested that when an ACL injury occurs, we should consult the doctor in time, complete the relevant examination, make a clear diagnosis and then standardize the treatment under the doctor’s guidance to avoid delaying the condition.
