Swollen lymph nodes in the neck found to be hypo-differentiated squamous carcinoma can be examined systemically to find out the primary focus of the cancer and treated actively. If there is metastasis, it means that the cancer has entered the advanced stage and the chance of surgery is not high, so chemotherapy and targeted therapy can be used. If the enlarged lymph nodes in the neck are found to be hypo-differentiated squamous carcinoma, a whole body pet-ct can be done first, which is equivalent to a whole body scan, to find out where the problem may have originated. Alternatively, a biopsy of the lymph nodes in the neck can be done to obtain tumor tissue for gene sequencing with unknown primary foci, so as to infer where the primary foci are most likely to originate from. If the swollen lymph nodes in the neck are found to be low-differentiated squamous carcinoma, it is recommended to go to regular tertiary hospitals or above to do a whole body physical examination to find out the primary cause of the disease, and then treat the symptoms accordingly.
