What kind of cold is Chai Hu Gui Zhi Dry Ginger Soup for?

Chai Hu Gui Zhi Dry Ginger Soup is not used to treat colds, but is mainly used to treat colds and fever, fullness and slight knotting in the chest and hypochondrium (a collective term for the chest and ribs), and dysuria (unruly urination).
Chai Hu Gui Zhi Gan Jiang Tang is composed of Chai Hu, Gui Zhi, Gan Jiang, Scutellaria baicalensis, Juniperus communis root, oyster, and Radix et Rhizoma Glycyrrhizae, and has the efficacy of harmonizing and dispersing cold, generating fluids and astringing yin.
This formula is widely used in clinical practice, and can be applied to the symptoms of typhoid fever and shao-yang (one of the six meridians of typhoid fever, with the location of the disease between the exterior and the interior), with cold and heat to and from the body, with the cold being more severe than the heat, neurosis, fullness and slight knotting in the chest and hypochondrium, unfavorable urination, thirst without vomiting but sweating out of the head, heartburn, and so on.
