After myopia surgery, if the patient’s eye care is not adequate, myopia rebound, i.e., myopia reappears, may occur.
If the patient’s eye development is not stable at the time of myopia surgery, and the myopia is still growing, then myopia surgery can only remove the existing myopia, and there is still a possibility of new myopia growing subsequently, which will lead to myopia rebound.
If the patient’s myopia is high and the corneal thickness is thin, myopic surgery will further reduce the thickness of the cornea due to the need to cut part of the corneal stroma, which will lead to changes in the corneal morphology of the patient after the surgery due to the effect of the pressure inside the eye. If patients do not pay attention to reasonable eye use after surgery and continue to be fatigued, myopia rebound can occur.
It is recommended that postoperative myopia patients follow the doctor’s instructions, have regular checkups, and seek prompt medical attention when discomfort occurs.
