What a urethral polyp looks like

Urethral polyp is usually a kind of hanging swelling with smooth surface and thin tip, even as thin as silk thread. And the surface of the polyp can be seen congestion, edema, bleeding and so on. Patients may also have symptoms such as hematuria, dysuria, and hematospermia. Urethral polyps, also known as urethral mucosal vascular polyps, are benign tumors that occur in the urethra. Usually through the physical examination can be found in the urethral opening of the pendulous swelling, smooth surface, thin tip, or even as thin as silk thread. Congestion, edema, and bleeding can also be seen on the surface of the hanging mass. Patients are advised to undergo routine urinalysis, urethroscopy, and cystourethrography during voiding. If the diagnosis of urethral polyps need to be treated as soon as possible, usually the main means of treatment is surgical excision.
