Nasopharyngeal cancer cures itself

Nasopharyngeal cancer usually cannot be cured by itself, and patients can be treated by radiotherapy, chemotherapy and surgery as prescribed by doctors.

1. Radiation therapy: it is the first choice of clinical treatment for nasopharyngeal cancer. However, radiation therapy has certain side effects and usually has some complications such as dry mouth, difficulty in opening mouth, pigmentation and hair loss.

2. Chemotherapy: It is mainly used for patients in middle and late stages who fail to control and recur after radiotherapy, so it is a kind of auxiliary or palliative treatment. Commonly used methods of drug delivery include systemic chemotherapy, arterial cannulation chemotherapy and so on. Commonly used drugs include cyclophosphamide and fluorouracil.

3. Surgical treatment: including surgical resection and cervical lymph node dissection. It is suitable for patients whose limited lesions in nasopharynx do not subside or recur after radiotherapy.

It is suggested that nasopharyngeal cancer patients should go to hospitals and choose appropriate treatment plan under doctors’ guidance in time, so as to avoid delaying the condition and causing adverse consequences.
