Where is the appendix located in women?

The location of the appendix in women is identical to that of men, and is situated in the ileo-caecum portion of the body, i.e., at the junction of the ileum and cecum, and the location can be confirmed on the surface of the body by means of the Mack’s point. The appendix is a long, thin, curved, blind tube, located in the lower right part of the abdomen, with its root attached to the posterior medial wall of the cecum, and its distal end may be free and extend in all directions of the abdominal cavity, but there may be ectopic appendices, i.e., appendixes that are shifted, such as left-sided appendices, high or low appendices, and so on. The position of the appendix does not vary by gender, but is normally the same in women as in men. The most common surgical condition associated with the appendix is acute appendicitis, which is characterized by abdominal pain, and can be treated by surgical removal of the appendix if surgical intervention is indicated.
